About Me

I am a preacher and church planter at heart.  After graduating from Manhattan (KS) Christian College, Lincoln (IL) Christian Seminary and Emmanuel School of Religion (TN), Laura (my wife) and I moved to Wichita, KS to serve as the Pastor of Evangelism and Discipleship at Central Christian Church.  Four years and one child later (Will) we moved to Knoxville, TN to serve as the Senior Minister of Woodlawn Christian Church.  Five years and two more kids later (Anna & Luke), we moved to New Orleans, LA to serve as the church planter with Journey Christian Church.  We served for seven years in New Orleans where we continue to partner with others for church planting and community transformation.  Our three kids are now 13, 11, and 9 and we love biking, snowballs, going to the park and hanging out with friends. I now serve as the senior pastor at Owensboro Christian Church, Owensboro, KY (www.owensborochristian.org).  I hope this blog helps in sharing my heart, thoughts, and ideas as we’re on this journey together.

  3. Hey Rick and Laura, My company is partnering with HUD to provide some assistance in the areas impacted by hurricanes Ike and Gustov. As i will be in NO for some training and technical assistance, i tried to look you all up today and discovered you have relocated. I am sorry i will not get to see you in NO; but pray God is using you powerfully in Owensboro as He did in NO! Blessings, Scot Whitesell

  6. Rick,
May God’s overwhelming power move through you as you lead this church. Even though I can’t say I have contributed to your success, it is still heart warming to see how God has elevated you in so many ways and accomplished so much through you. I am grateful to the Lord for having those years together in discipleship.
I hope you continue to lead and will look forward to following what God does through you!
    God Bless Brother!

  11. Well hush my mouth and call me Susan…we found you! Rick…how are you doing? Man, we really miss you. The kids always ask about you and want to see you again. They are getting old now. Annalise is three, Angelene is five, Ronald is seven and Jeremy is 16. You are a mighty man of God and he used and still uses you to bring families together and faith in Christ. Man, we have really grown-up in the Lord and we have to just thank you for being a servant of Jesus and giving people a true view of God by just being yourself. We send blessings to you and your family and just pray that you continue touching the lives of so many who need Jesus and even those who think they don’t. We pray these things for you and ask Jesus to guide your family and protect you and them from the darkness of the world. My family prays the lord continues to make you a mighty man of God, a caring father and boulder planted within the mountain of Gods word! We pray this in Jesus name…Amen…….

Patrick, Alicia, Anna, Angelene, Ronald and Jeremy.
